Charity begins @ home.This is an old saying, & mentioning it just to ensure, that
i practice what i say.India is a country of celebrations,
celebrating festivals. Loads of festivals are there. But, Grand Festival season starts from Naag panchami in august month, followed by
Raksha bandhan, Shri Krishna Janmashtami, EID, Hartalika Teej, Ganesh chaturthi, Paryushan parv, Shraddh parv, Navrathri, Dussehera, Shri Gurunanak ji jayanti, Dipwali, Merry Christmas, New year, Shri Guru Govind Singh ji Jayanti, Navroj, Pongal, Makar Sankranti, Good friday & so on. These festivals are being cheered & cherished by everybody,
irrespective of religion, caste or age. New clothes, home furnishings, sweets, lightings, crackers add flavours to our festive spirits. We always have a tendency to spend more than our capacity to make our family happy & rejoiced. Those all, who are reading this article definitely form a better, prosper & vital part of a society. We are an
internet society, always one up as per as our thought process, sense of responsibility & intelligence are concerned. & credit for all this not only goes to the Almighty, parents, family members, our hard work but to society also. We shud all think positively to
give back the society, whatever we can, within OR out of our capacity.
The pics which i have added to this post, addresses the same issue. I came accross a aashram nearby my residence, which
entertains only handicapped children, 4-16 years. Day boarding, education, hostel & meals, all goes on
charity. This is the pic of the occassion when i invited them at my home, on an auspicious occassion, arranged a get together with lunch for them. All of our family members also had lunch with them. SO, what s unique in that. Well,
prior to this, i went over 50 home surrounding us, one day ago, requested all of
them to join those children. My neighbourers were simply asked to come alone,
just to rejoice those children, that they are no alone, we all are with you. A lil request was made, that if & only if possible, bring along anything from ur home,
used stuff, be it a dress wear or anything. & to my
ultimate surprise most of them came & while children were leaving, i had to
arrange a loading rikshaw for them to carry away the stuff, those neighbourers brought along with them.
One more such occassion, i wanted to share with all you people. WE had a circus running in our city indore. To my
ultimate surprise, only on one request, within 15 seconds of my mentioning, circus people agreed to
allow free entry to those children.
Children were more than happy, as they never seen circus in their life.
In the same series, I have arranged for those children to visit an
Ice cream plant on Sunday,
12 th September 2010, 1 pm. During which Plant owner not only agreed to show them the
process of manufacturing of ice cream, but also to offer an ice cream each for all of them.
AM I BLOWING MY OWN TRUMPET - Why mentioning this, blowing out my own trumpet, not really. Just wanted to highlight the effort to
convey & communicate my message properly. & one more important reason. CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME.
Before preaching readers, i wanted to put my own example. Well, what did i contribute ? Just my deeds & lil bit of food stuff, that s all. During their visit to ice cream plant/circus, i will have to expend
less than even Rs. 1000 ( on conveyance ). I know we people are not capable enough to bring out the
revolution in our society. But, within our capabilities we can bring
small lil changes in our society. IF not, at least we are capable enough to bring out
cheerful smile on the face of one such needful person, once such festival. LOads of
old age homes, orphanages, aashrams, municipals school, slum houses etc are around us, waiting for our initiatives. Following are my suggestions, which are
not big, yet effective to fulfill, such noble causes.
1. Spend any 2 or 3 such festivals every year with such people.
2. Do celebrate a
birthday OR anniversary once in a while with them.
3. There are several orgnanizations out at your city, which
arranges to serve, the meals, which are
spared, from our social functions, such as marriage functions, birthday celebrations etc.
4. SHRADDH SEASON is celebrated till 15 days in north india.
COntribute one time meal, any of those days to the needfull people on the name of ur ancestors.
5. DOnate spare/used blankets, woolen clothes etc. in winter season & spare/used wind sheeters/raincoat in rainy season.
6. Go to a multiplex nearby you, meet the manager in operations there. Multiplex goes empty houses during
Shraddha/ramzan/examination period. They will be
more than happy to arrange a show,
free of cost/nominal cost for this noble cause. Some how, if multiplex owner doesnt approve a movie show for them, they will
always agree to let those children to visit to their
projection room to know, how the movies are projected.
7. U can also arrange an
in house, movie show on a projector/lcd/dvd at their place itself.
8. Arrange to
donate educational stuff to the children studying.
9. People who know any art like
paintings/computers/rangoli/knitting/weaving can spend 1-2 hours during weekend teaching their art to them.
10. Any stuff, that is spared/used but have been upgraded/updated/old for you. like
electronic gadget/clothes/utensils/toys/educational material/medicines/11. Pay
occassional visits to their places, even if u r not in mood/able to donate something,
just to cheer them up that they are not alone.
12. Invite once or twice a year @ your
place/society/township etc. just in order to bring them into
lime light, to
attract attention of the people around you towards them.
13. U can meet the directors of such places & can refer them to the able people u know OR can request such capable people to pay attention/visits to their places.
14. u can
arrange to let them visit any
fascinating place in ur city like amusement park, museum, shopping mall, garden, any manufacturing plant, ice cream plant, dairy plant, water treatment plant, pumping station, dam
likewise places.
15. If u r concerned with any NGO, u can
arrange a celebrity to visit their places.
16. Arrange a visit to the local Radio station, FM station, Newspaper press, TV channel likewise places, to let them know,
how they function. They also readily agress for such cause, as such
activity brings fee publicity for them.
17. If any mall/shop/showroom/township is
scheduled to inaugurated, simply go & meet the directory &
suggest this idea. They will
always be ready for such activity as such kind of activity brings down loads of free media publicity for them.
I know, there are much more
smarter & intelligent people than me, amongst my readers. Many other such
ideas & even better wud click to them. Required is
just an inspiration. If my article inspires even one such person, i wud think my
work is done & then u know, its a
chain reaction. Today when those children wud be visiting to the ice cream plant, i am sure, the idea wud be clicked to the persons, who wud come
accross this initiative. So, when u get involve into these activities, people watching u doing this, wud
also get inspired. So, its quite possible, this
leads to a chain reaction & together we might bring a revolution in our society, if not for anything else, then at least for people who need our love & affection.
& let me guarantee one sure shot fact.
No stop loss required for such activity.
No risk only reward that too of too many smiling faces around us.
